Local lads to bare bods at football fundraiser Mr Spotswood 2018

Local lads from the Spotswood Football Club have been hitting the gym hard in final preparations for the bare body experience and annual fundraising event that is Mr Spotswood 2018.

Now in its twenty-seventh year, the event shows no signs of giving up its priority placement in the club’s calendar, as players prepare to perform to another playful crowd in the hope of claiming this year’s Mr Spotswood crown.

After six finalists are ranked and reduced to a top three, there can only be one Mr Spotswood, but participating players also contend for category titles including Best Abs, Best Bum, Best Personality and Best Eyes.

Event organiser Maryanne Fino said participating players volunteer their time on the night, with dance lessons leading up to the event also added into their tough training schedule for match day.

“This year we are lucky enough to have local Spotswood performance arts school MAPA supporting us again, with the beautiful Lolly Felix teaching the boys. They have three weeks to rehearse three choreographed dances,” Ms Fino said.

“It’s been a pleasure to have been involved since it started. I love putting it together. Every year is different, every year is entertaining, and the boys love to entertain. The club finds the event is also great for team bonding and we find it boosts morale.”
