Tony Abbott wants Jill Hennessy to know that he’s no ‘Grandpa Simpson’ of Federal Parliament, appearing to have as much passion for defending his youth as he does for defending our borders.
On Wednesday evening, the Liberal backbencher was speaking with Graham Richardson on Sky News, when he was asked how he is feeling, what his attitude is towards politics and his own future.
Tony Abbott tells Jill Hennessy he’s no ‘Grandpa Simpson’ of Federal Parliament.
“As far as I’m concerned, I’ve still got a fair bit of public life left in me. I’m fit, I’m strong, I’m a lot younger than a lot of other leaders around the place, and I think I’ve got a lot to contribute still,” Mr Abbott said.
Member for Altona and Health Minister Jill Hennessy likened the former Prime Minister to the ‘Grandpa Simpson’ of Federal Parliament after being questioned on what she thought of one of his recent radio rants.
Ms Hennessy, however, could be forgiven for confusing her politicians with her animated cartoon characters, given it is not the first time Mr Abbott has been mistaken for a resident of Springfield.

Tony Abbott reminds me of Grandpa Simpson when he starts ranting – there's a certain rhythmic cadence to their incomprehensibility.
