Men wanted following Footscray assault and robbery

Victoria Police detectives are investigating an assault and robbery which occurred in Footscray earlier this month, with police releasing images of three men who they believe will be able to assist with their enquiries.

Investigators have been told the victims, two university students, both aged 20, were walking along Geelong Road after crossing from Ballarat Road when they were approached by three men just after 7pm on Monday 15 April.

The men threatened the pair and demanded that they hand over their phones and wallets. The victims refused and were then assaulted by the men, receiving a number of punches and kicks to the head in the attack.

The men stole the victim’s phones, wallets and a laptop. Both victims were treated at the scene by paramedics for cuts and abrasions. The men are described as being aged in their late teens to early twenties and, perceived to be of African appearance.

Anyone who recognises the men or has any information that might assist police with their investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at the Crime Stoppers website.
