Man charged after murder of Dwayne Wright at Civic Parade home in Altona


Victoria Police detectives from the Homicide Squad were called to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after he was discovered deceased at an Altona home on Sunday night.

Local members from Altona North Police Station attended a Civic Parade address about 11.20pm and after entering the property discovered a deceased man who was located inside the house.

Forensic specialists established a major crime scene to carry out their investigation. It was determined that a 26-year-old man, who has been identified as Dwayne Wright, had been fatally shot.

Homicide Squad detectives arrested a man on Monday afternoon. Jason Ashman, 48, from Kensington, was charged with one count of murder and appeared at the Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Mr Ashman was remanded in custody after a brief appearance on Christmas Day. He will be required to undergo a medical review before his next appearance in court which is scheduled for December 27.
