Cops clock cashed up BMW in Altona North gunning it

Victoria Police members who were on patrol in Altona North ended up seizing a loaded firearm and a large quantity of cash from a speeding BMW, after intercepting the vehicle for traffic offences.

The cashed-up car was clocked traveling at 160km/h in a 60km/h zone before police directed the driver of the vehicle to pull over on Barnes Road in Altona North at about 6.20pm on May 17.

Police found two male occupants in the car, also locating a loaded handgun and a large quantity of cash on the driver. The handgun and cash were seized, and the car impounded at a cost of $932.46. The passenger was cleared of any wrong doing.

A 37-year-old St Albans man was arrested and charged with dangerous driving, committing an indictable offence whilst on bail, handling proceeds of crime and numerous firearm offences. He was remanded in custody to appear in court on June 3.
