Cafe worker performs CPR on unconscious man in Newport park

A man in his 50s remains in a critical condition at Footscray Hospital, after he was found unconscious in a Newport park.

A local cafe worker has performed CPR on a man, who was found unconscious at a Newport park, at around 8am this morning.

Willy and Hobby has been told a man was found convulsing on the ground at Paine Reserve in Newport, with a passerby alerting a local cafe worker, who phoned Triple Zero.

The cafe worker then commenced CPR on the man until paramedics arrived at the scene, before the man was transported to Footscray Hospital in a critical condition.

“The man, aged in his 50s, remains in a critical condition at Footscray Hospital,” a Western Health spokesperson said.
