Shelly’s Beach Pavilion in Williamstown hosted ARIA Hall of Fame Inductee Daryl Braithwaite and his band on Thursday night for their annual Christmas party.
The local restaurant was quick to announce their special guest on social media, also taking the opportunity to announce that Daryl Braithwaite and his band will return to Shelly’s Beach Pavilion next year for a live performance.
“We were honoured to host Daryl Braithwaite and Band for their annual Christmas party. Stay tuned for the upcoming announcement of Daryl and Band live at Shelly’s in 2018,” said Shelly’s Beach Pavilion.
Daryl Braithwaite was recently inducted in the ARIA Hall of Fame after a career spanning four decades. The former Sherbet vocalist, best know for hit singles The Horses and One Summer, joined the like of John Farnham, Olivia Newton-John and Jimmy Barnes with the honorary award, recognising his many timeless songs that have crossed generations of Aussie music fans.
His second solo album Edge topped the Australian charts for three weeks after its release in 1988. Just a few years later, his third collection – Rise – became Australia’s biggest selling album of 1991.
But for all the highs, Braithwaite’s career has had it share of lows. In the early ’90s he was sued by former managers over fee entitlements before he and his record label parted ways (he re-signed by Song in 2013). Since then Braithwaite has toured widely and will appear at Falls Festival at the end of the year.
