Cut above the rest: The Councillors and the Hobsons Bay home care cuts

Willy and Hobby can exclusively reveal that two Hobsons Bay Councillors – Councillor Tony Briffa and Councillor Michael Grech – noticeably exited the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday earlier than all other Councillors.

Willy and Hobby is also of the belief that Councillor Tony Briffa and Councillor Michael Grech lodged a Notice of Recision in relation to a decision to outsource Hobsons Bay home care services.

Willy and Hobby is also of the belief that a Notice of Recision was submitted by Councillor Tony Briffa and Councillor Michael Grech because all other councillors voted to outsource Hobsons Bay home care services.

Willy and Hobby is also of the belief that Councillor Colleen Gates, Councillor Peter Hemphill, Councillor Sandra Wilson and Councillor Jonathon Marsden all voted to outsource Hobsons Bay home care services.

Willy and Hobby is also of the belief that had any one of the above-mentioned Councillors voted otherwise, it would have not required a Special Council Meeting which is currently scheduled for Saturday.

Willy and Hobby is unable to provide any other information or make any further comment on this matter at this time due to legal reasons. Stayed tuned to Willy and Hobby for updates on the Aged Care crisis.

Statement from Lisa Darmanin, Australian Services Union Branch Secretary:

“Community members who want to see in-home aged care continue at Hobsons Bay deserve to know which councillors have voted to keep this critical service and which voted to outsource.”
