Angela Altair recognised at Victorian Councillor Service Awards 2018

Hobsons Bay Mayor Angela Altair has been awarded Mayor Emeritus at the Victorian Councillor Service Awards 2018.

Hobsons Bay Mayor Angela Altair has been recognised for many years of service to public office with a Mayor Emeritus award at the Municipal Association of Victoria’s Victorian Councillor Service Awards 2018.

Now in its 11th year, the Victorian Councillor Service Awards recognises the contribution of all councillors and continues the tradition of conferring awards for long serving councillors, with two types of awards on the night.

Long service is recognised at 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years’ service, and award of Mayor Emeritus recognises councillors who have served three or more full terms as mayor, with a full term considered to be 12 months.

Angela Altair is the second Councillor and Mayor at Hobsons Bay City Council to receive the award of Mayor Emeritus, after former Hobsons Bay Councillor and Mayor Bill Baarini was honoured at the inaugural awards in 2008.

The 2018 Victorian Councillor Service Awards were conferred at the MAV Annual Dinner following the Annual Conference on Thursday 18 October 2018 at the Sofitel Hotel, Melbourne.
